Dsmserv Loadformat command fails to load module libdb2.a(shr_64.o)

Troubleshooting


Problem

dsmserv loadformat can fail with a system error on the libdb2.a(shr_64.o) module indicating the file or directory does not exist.

Symptom

Could not load program dsmserv: Dependent module libdb2.a(shr_64.o) could not be loaded.
Could not load module libdb2.a(shr_64.o). System error: No such file or directory

This error can occur during server install, upgrade or database restore

Cause

dsmserv loadformat was run from /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin rather that instance owner's home directory.

NOTE: The default instance owner's home directory is /home/tsminst1

Resolving The Problem

To resolve this problem:

1) Run dsmserv loadformat from the instance owner's home directory. For example /home/tsminst1

2) Specify the absolute path when running dsmserv loadformat. For example:

    $ pwd
    /home/tsminst1
    $ whoami
    tsminst1
    $ /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/dsmserv loadformat
