Updating Help Content results in HTTP status 403 error

Attempts to update help content results in HTTP status 403 error with IBM Rational Team Concert (RTC).


When accessing https://servername:9443/help-name/updater/updatewar.jsp, the following HTTP Status 403 error is seen:

HTTP Status 403 -

type Status report
description Access to the specified resource () has been forbidden.

Apache Tomcat/5.5.30


You try to access the help updater page from a remote machine.

Resolving the problem

In order to access the update page for the help content settings, you need to be on the server that is running the help application. This is a security feature.

In the case where the server is configured for IPv6 and localhost resolves to a IPv6 address, you may still get the HTTP Status 403 when accessing help updater on the server machine using 'localhost'. In that case, you should access help updater on the server machine using in the URI, such as:
