Problem(Abstract)

Data fetchers hung after running for a while.

Symptom

We are seeing messages like below for the 'hung' data fetchers:-

030312 192508: Fetching from TRX_APN has started on Sat Mar 03 19:25:08 EST 2012 Not able to run fetch now or delete on these data fetchers as well.

The following error is displayed:-

030412 212848: Error: Fetching in progress.

Please wait until the fetching is done before running on demand fetch again.



Diagnosing the problem

The following can be observed in the trace.log file:-

00000024 databrowser 1 com.micromuse.sla.databrowser.DataBrowserImpl executeQuery ENTER^^T^Error with SQL Syntax or Resync...Io exception: Software caused connection abort: socket write error

Resolving the problem

The APAR IV01122 allows TBSM to free up connections if they are bad. Even though it was addressed for Oracle connections, it could be applied to any RDBMS as well.

In this case, you will need to install FP3 & IF3 in order to get this issue resolved.
