Upgrades to ClearQuest 22.214.171.124 or later can result in cqwebprofile port errors
Attempts to upgrade IBM Rational ClearQuest from 7.1.x or 8.0.0.x to 126.96.36.199 or later can fail or show an error message about port conflicts.
On the WebSphere Application Server Installation panel, if Rational ClearQuest Web Server is still running and you are deploying it by creating a new WebSphere Application Server profile, the following message is displayed at the top of the panel:
The following ports 12080, 12060, 12443, 12043, 12809, 12880 used by cqwebprofile must not be in use during the install process, free the ports before continuing with install by Stopping any application that might be using the ports. e.g. Stopping any other WebSphere Application Server profile running.
When installing and deploying Rational ClearQuest Web Server into a new WebSphere Application Services profile, the ports that are used during the installation process must be available.
In Rational ClearQuest versions 188.8.131.52 and earlier, the install did not check to see if the default ports were in use, but if they were in use the upgrade would fail.
When installing or upgrading Rational ClearQuest version 184.108.40.206 and later, the installation program checks to see if default ports are available before beginning the installation process. If the ports are in use, the installation process stops until the ports are available.
To prevent issues when upgrading from Rational ClearQuest 7.1.x directly to Rational ClearQuest 220.127.116.11 or later, be sure to stop any Rational ClearQuest web processes before starting Installation Manager.
In the case of an upgrade, the existing Rational ClearQuest Web Server is likely using those ports.
Resolving the problem
Determine what applications are using the ports identified in the error and stop them*, or deploy into an existing WebSphere Application Server profile.
*Note: If you do stop the applications to free the ports, you must click the Cancel button on the Installation Manager panel and restart the upgrade or install. This cancel operation forces the Installation Manager to check the ports again.
