Question
How do you setup the IBM Rational Method Composer (RMC) and Rational Team Concert (RTC) integration?
Cause
If the Integration is setup correctly, you should be able to see Work Items Perspective when you choose the menu item Window > Open Perspective > Other > Work Items
Answer
In order to view Rational Team Concert perspectives, you need start shell sharing Rational Method Composer and not Rational Method Composer client.
- The shell sharing Rational Method Composer is under this folder on Windows 7:
C:\Program Files (x86)_IBM\RMC751\rmc_ide.bat
- The shell sharing Rational Method Composer is under this folder on Windows XP:
C:\Program Files\IBM\RMC751\rmc_ide.bat
Note: The first time you start that file rmc_ide.bat, it takes 6 minutes to start on Windows XP. Windows 7 might be faster.
Options to run the sharing Rational Method Composer:
Option 1:
- Install Rational Method Composer 7.5.1 or later
- Install Rational Team Concert Client For Eclipse IDE 3.0 or later
Note: Ensure you install Rational Team Concert Client For Eclipse IDE 3.0 into the same install package group of Rational Method Composer 7.5.1, which can be selected in the Installation Manager during installation
- Start shell-sharing Rational Method Composer (rmc_ide.bat).

- Go to Window > Open Perspective > Other

NOTE: For Rational Method Composer 7.5.2 with Rational Team Concert 4.0.X you must use Option 2 for the integration to work.
Option 2:
- Install Rational Team Concert Client For Eclipse IDE 3.0 or later
- Install Rational Method Composer 7.5.1 or later
Note: Ensure you install Rational Method Composer 7.5.1 into the same install package group of Rational Team Concert Client For Eclipse IDE 3.0 or later, which can be selected in the Installation Manager during the installation
- Start Rational Team Concert
Note: This may take up to 6 minutes to start
- Go to Window > Open Perspective > Other
