ING008I issued for INGEVENT or INGREQ commands

Troubleshooting

Problem

Message issued: ING008I INGPYAMC SERVICE FAILED, RC=2 - REASON=TIMEOUT MOD=INGRVAMC -MAKE_REQUEST,*WAIT=40 (INGREQ )

Symptom

This prevents some applications from starting.

Cause

SA/zOS configuration parameter

Resolving The Problem

Diagnosis determined that customer had HSAPRM00 parameter WLMQUERYINTERVAL=5 defined on all sysplexes. WLMQUERYINTERVAL specifies the time in minutes between queries of WLM by the SA/zOS Automation Manager, as used for Resource Aware Application Move. The WLMQUERYINTERVAL default is 0, which means that no querying of WLM is done.

Performance wise, when enabled, this feature can be expensive.

The valid range for WLMQUERYINTERVAL is from 0 to 600 minutes (10 hours).

The customer changed HSAPRM00 parameter WLMQUERYINTERVAL=5 to WLMQUERYINTERVAL=0 (disabling the feature).

To pick up new HSAMPRM00 WLMQUERYINTERVAL settings, the AMs (PAM and SAMs) have to be restarted..

With WLMQUERYINTERVAL=0 specified the problem was resolved.

SA/zOS publications will be updated to documentation the potential for a performance impact when enabling Resource Aware Application Move by way of HSAPRM00 parameter WLMQUERYINTERVAL. Publications affected are the SA/zOS User's Guide under topic 'Resource Aware Application Move' and the SA/zOS Planning & Installation under topic 'Syntax for HSAPRM00'.
