Question
Error retrieving performance data from the Server performance object: <80070005>
Answer
On Windows 2008 Windows OS agent does not deliver any data for a work space.
The following message appears in the Windows OS Agent log:
Error retrieving performance data from the Server performance object: <80070005>
In some cases error 80070005 was happening due to a bad synchronization at startup between the kntcma agent and a performance counter service. Restarting the agent was resolving the 80070005 error.
The problem was addressed by setting the startup of the agent service as "automatic (Delayed start)" with the following procedure:
1- go to controlPanel/AdministrativeService/Services
2- select the service "Monitor Agent for Windows OS - Primary" and open its properties. 3- Change the Startup type from "Automatic" into "Automatic (Delayed start)" and press OK.
Please apply the above procedure to Windows 2008 machines which are showing the failure (the above option is valid for Windows 2008 and next levels).
Older systems like Windows 2003 systems seem more stable and the restart
of the agent should be sufficient.
