Channels are slow to start.. When you issue the WebSphere MQ (WMQ) display channel status command, DISPLAY CHSTATUS, there are channels with SUBSTATE(NAMESERVER).
Channels may be slow to start. When display channel status multiple time, you see the channels remain with SUBSTATE(NAMESERVER). You could also see elevated CHIN CPU with many CSQX500I and CSQX501I messages..
The WMQ CHINIT uses Domain Name Server (DNS) services for a number of purposes during normal processing of channel connections. If the system WMQ CHINIT suffers delays in processing it can show up as DNS issues with channel SUBSTATE in NAMESERVER.
Diagnosing the problem
You have many channels, particularly SVRCONN channels, starting or stopping causing CSQX500I and CSQX501I messages.
Resolving the problem
Check to ensure that you do not have an application that intercepts Write To Operator (WTO) calls (such as CSQX500I). That could increase the processing of the WTO messages and thus delay CHIN processing. In particular when many channels are opening and closing.
Consider client application changes or message suppression as directed in Technote 1246092 to reduce the frequency or eliminate CSQX500I, CSQX501I messages.
Check your CHIDISPS setting according to SupportPac MP16. Make sure there are enough TCBs to handle peak workloads.
