ANS0326E This node has exceeded its maximum number of mount points

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Backup may fail unexpectedly with the ANS0326E message though the value of the "MAXNUMMP" for the node and the value of the "RESOURCEUTILIZATION" for the client seem to be set appropriately.

Resolving the problem

There are a few reasons why this error message is issued. The following should be checked for possible solutions.

  1. Make sure that the "MAXNUMMP" value for the given node is greater than the resourceutilization value.
  2. Make sure that multiple sessions are not started manually where the number of backup sessions exceed the "MAXNUMMP" value of the given node.
  3. Make sure that the "MAXNUMMP" value for the given node accounts for multiple storage pool destinations as defined by the "Copy Storage Pools"(COPYSTGpools) value on the primary destination storage pool.
  4. Make sure there are no disconnect/re-establish backup sessions noted by the following warning message as this will lock a mountpoint if the 'commtimeout' value is too large as the disconnected sessions will not get cancelled due to 'commtimeout' value.
ANS1809W A session with the TSM server has been disconnected. An attempt will be made to reestablish the connection.

NOTE:

The 'Maximum Mount Points Allowed (MAXNUMMP)' value can be found on the Node definition on TSM Server via the 'query node {nodename} f=d' command.

The resourceutilization value can be found in the dsm.opt file for client. If there is no value there then the default value of '2' is used.

The 'Copy Storage Pools (COPYSTGpools)' value can be found on the storage pool definition on the TSM Server via the 'query stgp {storage pool name} f=d'.
