Dsmmigfs fails after Gpfs upgrade

Problem(Abstract)

Gpfs upgrade from 3.3.0.15 to 3.4.0.10 can cause Hsm process dsmmigfs to fail

Symptom

1) Gpfs is upgraded from 3.3.0.15 to 3.4.0.10

2) Dsmmigfs fails with the following errors:


ANS9512E dsmmigrate: cannot set DM attributes on session 4F0E140100000000 for file handle =
0A0302034C71FF1A-0000000000070C2C-0000000000000000-0001000400000000
token = 4-4F0E140F00000000. Reason : Stale NFS file handle

ANS9513E dsmmigrate: cannot remove DM attributes on session 4F0E140100000000 for file handle =
0A0302034C71FF1A-0000000000070C2C-0000000000000000-0001000400000000
token = 4-4F0E140F00000000. Reason : Stale NFS file handle

ANS9999E HSM migration(moPremigrateFile), unexpected errno(116): /hsm/test/blah2
ANS9532W dsmmigrate: cannot destroy the session 4F0E140100000000. Reason: Stale NFS file handle


Cause

When the dsmmigrate command attempts to update the extended attributes for files it was migrating, it exposed a defect in GPFS that resulted in the GPFS mmfsd daemon crashing. The defect is present in GPFS 3.4.0.8 through GPFS 3.4.0.10 and is scheduled to be fixed in Gpfs version 3.4.0.11. This GPFS defect is tracked under apar IV12937


Environment

Gpfs apar IV12937 is present in GPFS 3.4.0.8 through GPFS 3.4.0.10

Resolving the problem

Apply Gpfs version 3.4.0.11 or later .If this version is not available yet, please contact Gpfs support. Explain your situation and request e-fix for apar IV12937
