Calendar view's start/end times off for Citrix users located in a different time zone from the XenApp 6.x server
While viewing the user's Calendar in the Lotus Notes Standard client views, the start and end times of the calendar entries are skewed. This issue does not occur when using the Notes Basic client, which is not Java based.
In XenApp releases 5.x and earlier, Time Zone redirection was configured in a Citrix policy. Starting in XenApp 6.0, Time Zone redirection is configured using an Active Directory Group Policy Object. (For more details, see the following Citrix documentation: How to Configure Time Zone Redirection in XenApp 6.0 Using the Windows Group Policy Management Editor)
The Time Zone redirection feature allows a user who is located in a different time zone than the XenApp server to pull their time zone information into their Citrix session.
For example, if the Citrix server is located in the Eastern Standard Time Zone (GMT -5:00) and the user is physically located in the Central Standard Time Zone (GMT -6:00), when the user logs into the XenApp server, with Time Zone redirection enabled, their session will be set to Central Standard time, and not Eastern.
When the user logs into Lotus Notes (Standard only) and views their calendar using this configuration, the meeting entries' start and end times are incorrect.
Diagnosing the problem
The Lotus Notes Standard client retrieves the time zone information from the Windows server JVM. However, the Active Directory Group Policy Object (GPO) feature does not update this time zone reference when redirection is configured. This causes inaccurate time zone and time calculations for any Java based application running on the XenApp server in that user's session, and is not limited to the Lotus Notes Standard build.
