Clarity Server - Unable to view the Report Books under View Published Books

Technote (troubleshooting)


User are unable to view the Report Books under View Published Books, there are no items in the dropdowns. Search does not retrieve the books that were previously generated.


The Report Books are not available in View Published Books;
The Report Books are not available in File Share (the folder on the server where the output is automatically saved).


If no specific errors are found in the Clarity .log and .reference files on the server, this is most likely caused by a lack of permissions on the reports in question.

Diagnosing the problem

Create a report book and then run it

  1. Wait for the message that it had run successfully
  2. Go to View Published Books.

Resolving the problem

In order to resolve the issue, open Menu Administration from the Clarity Server interface and ensure the users have explicit permissions on the reports included in the report books.

If this is not the case, check the clarityserver.log and clarityserver.reference files (typically they can be found under Clarity Systems\ClarityServer\Logs folder) for any related errors.

For example, the reports location may have been changed and the following error would appear in logs: "The template file could not be found at <path>". To resolve this, you can either move back the reports, re-create the book from the interface or manually change the location in the .book file.
