IBM Support

Rational Firefox browser support direction

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

This document serves to provide details regarding support for Mozilla Firefox with IBM Rational products.

Content

In 2011, Mozilla began releasing new browser versions on a 6 week cycle, which poses a challenge for IBM and its Enterprise customers who require a stable, well-tested browser for use with Rational tooling.

At the urging of many organizations, Mozilla has created a Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR), which is designed to be used by organizations that require a stable, long-term supported browser variant that has been fully tested to work with their enterprise applications.

Rational is hereby announcing its intent to support the Firefox ESR releases, starting with the Firefox 10 ESR release which released on 31 January 2012. Rational intends to focus its products' Firefox browser support on the ESR versions of the Firefox browser.

See the following link for more details about the Mozilla Firefox ESR:

Mozilla Firefox ESR can be downloaded from the following location:

Please consult product support specifications for details on specific Firefox browser support. If you report an issue using an IBM Rational product on a non-ESR version of Firefox, IBM Rational Support may require that you reproduce the issue using a supported ESR version of the Firefox browser in order to receive IBM Rational support.

Note that this information is intended to assist in your browser migration planning; however, IBM Rational reserves the right to amend, make adjustments to, or otherwise change these plans at any time.
