System Automation for z/OS not initializing after upgrade

Troubleshooting


Problem

Attempts to start IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS (SA z/OS) result in IEC161I 120-053 message for the STATS file, followed by AOF615I and AOF602D messages and SA z/OS would not initialize.

Symptom

The following message were issued during SA z/OS initialization:

IEC161I 120-053,AOCNV,AOCNV,AOFSTAT,,,AOCN.RAD01.STATS, 029

IEC161I AOCN.RAD01.STATS.DATA,CATL.SYSP1.XSYS

AOF615I UNABLE TO START TASK AOFTSTS

19 AOF602D ENTER 'RETRY' OR 'CANCEL' - DOMAIN RAD01

Cause

The error was caused by an SMS class that caused the CISIZES to be incorrectly allocated as follows when running the INGALLC2 sample procedure:

DATA 32768 and INDEX 1024

The correct CISIZES should be as follows:

DATA 18432 and INDEX 1536

Resolving The Problem

If you do not have APAR OA38281 and you bump into this problem, you can manually add the CISIZES to the Access Methods (IDCAMS) statements in the INGALLC2 procedure to ensure the STATS file is correctly allocated with the following CISIZES:

DATA 18432 and INDEX 1536
