Delete an Inventory storeroom

You can follow the steps below to delete a storeroom in Maximo 6.2.x and Maximo 7.1.1.1 to 7.1.1.5. But, this does not work for Maximo 7.1.1.6 and later versions. Maximo 7.1 introduced the ability to make an item obsolete; the ability to remove/delete the item from a storeroom is no longer available for Maximo 7.1.1.6 and later versions.

So, from Maximo 7.1.1.6 and later versions, users are not able to delete a storeroom if it has items associated.

You need to make sure all the items in this storeroom have a current balance of zero and delete the items from the storeroom first. You can transfer the items quantities to another storeroom, or you can adjust the current balance to zero.

1. Go To Inventory -- Storeroom application and find the storeroom you want to delete. On the Items tab, click the download button to copy all the items into an Excel file. So you have a copy of the items belong to this storeroom.

2. Use the Issues and Transfers application to transfer the item quantities from this storeroom to another storeroom to make the quantity of each equal to zero. Or use the Inventory application to adjust the current balance to zero.

3. Go To Item Master application, find an item that needs to be deleted. Then go to Storeroom tab, find the storeroom and the item, and delete the item from the storeroom. Make sure all the items belonging to this storeroom are deleted.

4. After all the items belonging to this storeroom are deleted. then go to the Storeroom application and delete the storeroom.
