Received U291 abend after making a selection on the auto assignment InfoMan panel
User 192 abend
An automated process was running under the covers to retrieve and add data to the panel, when the data was retrieved, InfoMan assumed the information was a PROMPT and in this case the user was trying to enter FAB which is short for the FABEND command, this causes InfoMan to issue a U192 abend.
We checked the profile by entering the PROF command, then selecting option 1 to display the 'SESSION DEFAULTS', we confirmed the user had option '4. Detection' set to PROMPT. We changed this to DATA and did a Temporary profile save. After changing the PROFile we were able to successfully enter '2,FAB' on the command line in the 'PROBLEM STATUS ENTRY' panel so that 'Assignee: Dept' was set to FAB instead of InfoMan taking the data as a command and causing the FABEND to result in a U192 abend.
Diagnosing the problem
To diagnose the problem we used the InfoMan FLow command to locate the TSP that was being invoked just before the U192 abend. We then used the TRace command to identify the control statement in the TSP. We then used PMF (panel modification facility) to review the TSP to get a full picture of what was going on.
Resolving the problem
The issue was resolved by changing Detection in the users InfoMan PROFile from PROMPT to DATA.
