Trace level for mySAP 5.1 is appended instead of changed.

Technote (FAQ)

Question

When setting the adapter trace level to verbose by running the task "Configure Event Adapter", the task is appending trace value to the existing setting.

Cause

The issue is the utility programs (tr.exe, date.exe, dirname.exe, sleep.exe) are not authorized for access. The utilities fail with the following error:

0 0 [main] D:\Tivoli\lcf\bin\w32-ix86\tools\date.exe 1000 handle_exceptions: Exception: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
0 2958 [main] date 1000 stackdump: Dumping stack trace to date.exe.stackdump

This is an issue seen on Windows 2003 SP1 and later.

Answer

The solution is to turn off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for those tools. Please check the Microsoft Knowledge database for more details.
