Abstract
The Business Space user interface for WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR) can be affected by upgrading the underlying WebSphere Application Server version to 7.0.0.19 due to incorrect behavior in WebSphere Application Server's Virtual Member Manager.

The Business Space user interface for WSRR might show an empty list of spaces and attempting to create a new space might not be possible if the version of WebSphere Application Server used is 7.0.0.19.
The symptoms include:
- Spaces that already exist are missing and cannot be selected for use.
- If you select the 'Finish' button within the 'Create Space' panel the following error is displayed:
'BMWMB0081E: The space was not created'.
- If you select the 'OK' button within the 'Import Space' panel the following error is displayed:
'BMWMB0106E: The space could not be created. Error detail: Permission denied.'
- If you select the 'Create Space' button within the 'Space Manager' panel, it might have no effect.
The most clear identification of a potential problem are those environments using WSRR v7.x.x.x, Business Space v7.x.x.x and WebSphere Application Server v7.0.0.19 in conjunction with a federated Active Directory LDAP.
An interim fix PM51981 has been created to address immediate concerns. Those administrators in a position to delay upgrades may wish to do so until the next fix pack level of WebSphere Application Server has been released to include APAR PM51981. All other requests should be routed to IBM support.
