    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    APAR IC85997

Installing or upgrading Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 fails when you install on a computer that is a member of a Windows domain.

Do not install, upgrade, or move an existing Tivoli Storage Productivity Center server into a Windows domain until you have read APAR IC85997.

    Adding an LDAP repository

When you add an LDAP repository to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, the following restriction applies:

The WebSphere® Application Server cannot resolve duplicated users or groups if these users or groups are present in more than one repository in the federated repositories framework. For example, an Administrator user exists in both the local OS and LDAP repository. You must ensure that the duplicated users (or groups) are not used during the configuration or to manage Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

    KNOWN ISSUES

    Tivoli Storage Productivity Center

    13867

If you uninstall IBM Tivoli Common Reporting, the following menu items are not removed:
    • IBM Cognos Configuration in the Start menu
    • Tivoli Common Reporting 2.1.1 in the All Programs menu
You must remove these menu items manually.

    17669

When you use an IPv6 address to add a server, the TPC server must also have an IPv6 address, and both servers must be in the same domain name system (DNS).

    26895

In the stand-alone GUI, when you modify a Storage Resource Group, the SAN Planner jobs continue to use the old Storage Resource Group definitions.

To see the new Storage Resource Group definitions, you must remove the Storage Resource Group and add it again in the specified plan's Content page.

    30407

When preparing to generate multiple batch performance reports for storage systems or switches, if you select a report type other than the default selection and reopen the report definition, on the Selection tab, you may see a column listed in the Available Columns that you did not select. This will not impact your created reports.

    30902

If you use High Contrast Mode (HCM) in your video display, you cannot tell which check box is selected and which check box is not selected on line graphs in the detail panels of devices.

    33089

Tivoli Storage Productivity Center does not detect a SCSI adapter when there is no disk attached to the adapter. The SCSI adapter does not appear in reports. If you attach a disk to the adapter and run a probe, the adapter becomes visible.

    33472

The meaning of the column name Backend Volume Space is different depending on the context. In the context of the topology of a subsystem, it is the total amount of backend space available to the subsystem. That is, the total capacity of the managed disks on the SAN Volume Controller. The space that is relevant in this context is space that is not internal disk storage.

The meaning of the column name Backend Volume Space is the space that a storage subsystem makes available to a virtualizer in the following contexts:
    • Reports generated through Data Manager
    • Reports generated through Disk Manager
    • Rollup reports
    • Storage Subsystem panel generated through the Data Manager Asset tree

    38525

On Resource details pages in the web-based GUI, the status of the resource is shown with a status icon on the resource icon in the upper part of the left pane. If you display Tivoli Storage Productivity Center in high contrast, the resource icon and the status of the resource are not visible.

To see the status of the resource, open the Properties page. The status is listed on the General tab.

    38561

If you use Tivoli Storage Productivity Center to manage a Sybase database, and you set an alert condition of Last Dump time MORE than <number of days>, an alert is triggered for all databases, not just the databases that were not backed up during the specified period.

    38563

If you use Tivoli Storage Productivity Center to manage a Sybase database, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center displays a zero (0) value for the Device Free Space in the reports, even if Sybase reports non-zero values.

The following alerts are also affected:
    • Total Device Freespace Less Than <value> is triggered every time, even if the triggering condition is supplied as a non-zero value.
    • Total Device Freespace Greater Than <value> is never triggered.

    38564

If you use Tivoli Storage Productivity Center to manage a Sybase database, and this database goes offline, the alert for this status change is not triggered.

    39134

The hover text for data points in charts does not display correctly.

The web-based GUI provides a number of charts that show information about monitored resources. You can view these charts on the details page for a specific resource. For example, to view charts for a storage system, go to the Storage Resources > Storage Systems page, right-click a storage system, and select View Details.

Charts that show information about historical storage usage contain data points. You can hover the mouse pointer over these data points to view additional information about storage usage at a point in time. On some charts, the hover text does not display correctly or the data point appears to flicker on and off.

To correct the problem, move the mouse pointer away from the data point and then return it.

    39939

If you uninstall Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, the progress bar for each feature or component jumps from 50 percent to 100 percent.

    40194

In Tivoli Storage Productivity Center web-based and stand-alone GUIs, PDF files do not export correctly in languages and locations where non-Latin 1 code pages are used. When you try to export the file, the non-Latin 1 characters are stripped from the output.

    The affected languages are:
    • Japanese
    • Chinese (Simplified)
    • Chinese (Traditional)
    • Korean
    • Polish
    • Czech
    • Hungarian
    • Russian

When you export to CSV and HTML, the correct output is generated in all languages and locations.

You must use Tivoli Common Reporting to generate reports and export these reports as PDF files. For more information about exporting reports as PDF files, see http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/cbi/v10r1m1/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.pwr_ppweb.10.1.1.doc%2Ft_exportdatainpdfformat.html

    41702

In some cases, the lsfset -u command fails on IBM Scale Out Network Attached Storage (SONAS) or IBM Storwize V7000 Unified devices. This failure causes probes of these devices to fail, so no SONAS configuration data is saved in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

To avoid this problem, turn off the -u option of the lsfset command. This prevents a refresh of the file set usage data in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

To turn off the -u option for the lsfset command:
    1. Change the value of the attribute 'Probe.GetRecentSONASData to 'false' in T_RES_CONFIG_DATA.
    2. Restart the Device server.

    41802

In the web-based GUI, the text in the Description column for the jobs log file is displayed in the language specified by the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center server, regardless of the language that is specified in the browser.

    42119

If you upgrade from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 Advanced, you might get the following error message:

BCPIN0134E The installation program could not stop the Device Server. Please manually stop the Device Server.

    42520 (44333)

The web-based GUI shows information about the back-end storage systems that have volumes assigned to a storage virtualizer. Information about these volumes is displayed on the Volume Mappings tab when you go to the details page for a storage virtualizer and click Back-end Storage Systems.

The list of volumes in the Volume Mappings tab is organized into columns that show the key properties about each assigned volume. If the back-end storage system that provides a volume is not monitored by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, some of the values for columns in the tab might be blank.

    43132

This issue affects Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication.

In the IBM® WebSphere® Application Server 8 Java virtual machine (JVM), a segmentation fault can cause the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center server to restart unexpectedly.

    43758

In the stand-alone and web-based GUIs, when you run a probe on your hypervisors, even if there are errors or warnings in the log, the status for the probe is displayed as successful.

    43906

When you add a new storage volume using IBM Tivoli Productivity Manager, and you select a storage pool from a Tivoli Productivity Manager's list that is not in the selected storage subsystem, no error message is displayed.

To avoid this issue, select a storage pool from the list in the storage subsystem you selected.

    44005

For the Stable Brocade SAN fabric, the Active Zone Set option that is displayed in Tivoli Productivity Manager may not be the same Active Zone Set option that is displayed in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center or on a switch.

    44473

When using the Cloud API to create a delivery unit, specifying a numeric-only name for the new delivery unit, the SONAS error EFSSG0002C occurs.

To avoid this issue, do not use numeric-only delivery unit names.

    44482

If you remove hypervisors from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, although they will be missing in the topology, you can still run a probe on them. You must manually remove them from the topology.

After you manually remove the hypervisors, they will not appear on the topology and you can no longer run a probe of them.

    44586

In the Storage Systems - Most Active Controllers or Modules report in Tivoli Common Reporting, when you select a daily interval, the following labels appear in English in non-English locales:
    • Sort Order
    • Storage System

    44657

In the stand-alone GUI, when you open a scan definition panel for an existing scan and later close the scan definition panel, even if you did not edit the scan definition, a window might notify you that the scan definition has unsaved changes.

If you did not edit the scan definition, select the option to close the panel without saving changes.

    44672

On the panel to view job logs, some informational messages do not have a valid link to messages help. When you click on the message link, you may see a help page that states:

The topic that you have requested is not available. The link may be wrong, or you may not have the corresponding product feature installed. This online help only includes documentation for features that are installed.

This problem occurs on all platforms, and is an information message that requires no further action.

    44678

In the web-based GUI, there is information about the port status, such as OperationalStatus (the Status text) that is not included in Tivoli Common Reporting reports.

    44915

If you view the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center online help using Mozilla Firefox Version 3.6 or later, certain text font sizes might not display as intended. This affects a very limited number of instances and could make those few parts of the text more difficult to read.

You can do one of the following:
    • Increase the browser font display size.
    • Use Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 8 or later.

    44939

In some instances, when you authenticate using single sign-on between the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 stand-alone GUI and the Element Manager for IBM® System Storage SAN Volume Controller 6.x, IBM® Storwize V7000, or IBM® Storwize V7000 Unified, the following error message appears on the Element Manager login page:

CMMVC6555E: The authentication task has failed because the authentication service either sent an incorrect response, or it sent a response that indicates that the authentication request has failed for a reason other than incorrect authentication credentials.

This issue now has a workaround. For more information on this workaround, see the attached doc_corrections.pdf file below.

    44978

Tivoli Storage Productivity Center cannot upgrade certain Storage Resource agents from Version 4.1.1 to Version 5.1.

If a Storage Resource agent upgrade job fails, redeploy the agent in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 by completing the following steps:

    1. Log in to the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center stand-alone GUI.
    2. In the navigation tree pane, expand Administrative Services > Configuration > Storage Resource Agent Deployments.
    3. Right-click Storage Resource Agent Deployments and click Create Storage Resource Agent Deployments.
    4. In Create Storage Resource Agent Deployment, specify the same installation location and daemon service settings as the original deployment job and enable the Force option.

When the job completes successfully, the Storage Resource agent is upgraded to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1.

    45104

If the SAN Volume Controller or Storwize V7000 use HTTPS to remotely authenticate to IBM Tivoli Integrated Portal Version 2.2 and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, error CMMVC6552E is displayed when you log in to the SAN Volume Controller or Storwize V7000 GUI.

This issue now has a workaround. For more information on this workaround, see the attached doc_corrections.pdf file below.

    45305

For the following Tivoli Storage Productivity Center command-line interface (CLI) commands, certain parameters have been omitted and listed incorrectly in the help. For the correct syntax for these commands, go to the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center information center at Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Knowledge Center and search for the following command names:
    • lscluster
    • lsfs
    • lsnode
    • lspool

    45367

HWN messages that originate from the TPC_Common\help\en\xml\hwn_dm_msg_APIMessages.xml file do not display apostrophes correctly in French or Italian.

If this occurs, go to the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Knowledge Center and search for the message ID in the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Messages Guide.

    45440

While Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is performing zone control against a fabric, and for five minutes afterwards, events for that fabric are queued. These events are processed by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center at the end of the five-minute period after the zone-control session ends. Also, if a scheduled fabric probe is running during zone control, the zone control might fail.

    45463

In the web-based GUI, the number of host connections that are shown on the Host Connections panel for a SAN Volume Controller might be less than the actual number of host connections. The reason that the total number might be different is because hosts that do not have a worldwide port name (WWPN) are not included in the number of host connections. The Tivoli Storage Productivity Center requires a WWPN to map host data in the database. A host that does not have a port assignment, or a host that is connected through iSCSI, does not have a WWPN and is not included in the total number of host connections. This known limitation for SAN Volume Controllers might also be a limitation for other storage devices when one or more connected hosts do not have a WWPN.

When you provision storage, keep in mind that the total number of host connections that are shown on the Host Connections panel might be less than the actual number of host connections. For example, when you add host connections, you might get an error that the maximum number of host connections has been reached, even though the Host Connections panel shows fewer than the maximum-allowed number of host connections.

To determine the number of host connections for a SAN Volume Controller, use the IBM System Storage SAN Volume Controller command-line interface. To obtain the number of host connections, run the following command:

    svcinfo lshost

To check whether a particular host has a WWPN, run the following command:

    svcinfo lshost host_id

where host_id is the ID for a host returned by the svcinfo lshost command.

    46945

In the web-based GUI, after you run a scan job on a mounted NetAPP share, an error message appears on the Jobs page for a failed filer connection. You can treat this message as a warning, not an error.

    46991

On the Windows operating system, when you uninstall Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1, you are not prompted to remove the user settings that are saved in the Window Administrator's AppData directory.

To avoid this issue, you must manually remove the files in the %APPDATA%\IBM\TPC\config directory.

    47032

An issue with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication Version 4 security synchronization with Tivoli Integrated Portal can cause custom user roles that are added to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication to be deleted.

To avoid this issue, when you plan to migrate from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication Version 4 to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication Version 5.1, update the following values in the <tpcr_install_dir>/replication/eWAS/profiles/CSM/properties/rmserver.properties file:
    • tip.security.synchronizeUserRegistries=false
    • tip.security.synchronizeLTPAKeys=false

You do not need to restart the server after modifying these values.

Before converting to LDAP, you must revert the values back to set the synchronize user registries to True and restart the following components:
    • Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication
    • Data server
    • Device server
    • Tivoli Integrated Portal

    47039

You must have at least one day of performance monitor data to run a provisioning plan. However, you can create a provisioning profile with a performance-based workload profile, and also specify that the number of days for performance monitor collection is 0 (zero). A performance-based workload profile is any profile that is not the Space Only workload profile.

You can also set the start and end dates in the plan to be the same day, which sets the number of days to 0.

If the number of days is set to 0, the following error message is displayed:

    HWNLM0726E
Performance data does not exist for input storage subsystem(s) for the given date range. Either run a TPC Performance Monitor against the given storage subsystem(s) or under the Capacity Planner, select the 'Space Only' Workload Profile option.

To avoid this issue, set the number of days for the performance monitor collection on your provisioning plan to at least 1 or select the Space Only workload profile.

    47040

In the Storage Systems - Most Active Controllers or Modules report in Tivoli Common Reporting, when you select a daily interval, the following labels appear in English in non-English locales:
    • Sort Order
    • Storage System

    47073

In the web-based GUI, after you run a fabric probe, the Last Data Collection information for fabrics and switches might not be updated in the resource pages, the resource details pages, or the properties pages.

    47088

When you create a Storage Area Network (SAN) plan, you can select an Effective Provisioning Profile on the Plan Content page in the SAN Planner wizard. When you run the SAN plan again, the Plan Content page shows the value None for the Effective Provisioning Profile.

However, the values that came from the provisioning profile, and the modifications to those values are saved and appear in the wizard the next time that you execute the plan.

    47090

If you run the service.sh script on an AIX system that does not have the Tivoli Integrated Portal component installed, an exception occurs and the execution stops.

To avoid this problem, modify the <tpc_install_dir>\config\service.properties file. Add the path of a valid directory to the TipServer key.

    47097

In the web-based GUI, on the Disks details page for a server, when you click the link in the Paths column, the Thin Provision, Volume, Storage Systems, Volume Capacity and Used Volume Space columns all contain values for the local disks, when the columns should be empty.

    47099

In the web-based GUI, on the Pools details page, names are sorted by using case-sensitive and non case-sensitive sorting. Names should be sorted by using AAA, bbb, CCC, ddd, EEE, and fff, but instead they are sorted by using AAA, CCC, EEE, bbb, ddd, fff, and so on.

    47114

In the stand-alone GUI, when you click Rename on the Disk Manager, Profile Manager, and Provisioning Profiles pages, you cannot rename the selected item. The button appears to be pressed, but nothing happens.

To avoid this issue, complete the following steps in the Create Provisioning Profile wizard:
    1. Specify a profile name and enter a description.
    2. Select Create profile using an existing profile.
    3. Select the profile you want to rename and click Next.
    4. Select the workload profile and thin provisioning profile and click Next. These profiles are not copied from the original provisioning profile.
    5. On the Path settings page, click Next to advance to the Security Settings page.
    6. Click Finish to save the new profile.
You can delete the original profile.

    47119

When you create a new provisioning profile based on an existing profile, the workload profile and the thin provisioning profile are not copied from the original provisioning profile.

To avoid this issue, you may change the workload profile and the thin provisioning profile from their default settings to the desired values.

    47238

If you upgrade from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 Advanced, you might get the following error message:

BCPIN0134E The installation program could not stop the Device Server. Please manually stop the Device Server.

    47261

After you upgrade to Version 5.1, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center cannot display information about Version 4.1.1 jobs on the following pages in the web-based GUI:
    • The Jobs page at Home > Jobs.
    • The Jobs tab on resource list pages, such as Server Resources > Servers.
    • The Jobs section on resource details pages, such as Server Resources > Servers > View Details.

In the stand-alone GUI for Version 5.1, the value N/A is displayed in the Device Name column on the Job Management page for jobs that were run in Version 4.1.1.

After you upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, use the stand-alone GUI to run the Version 4.1.1 jobs again. Information about the jobs is displayed again in both GUIs.

In the web-based GUI, the log files for Version 4.1.1 jobs do not display information about previous job runs.

    47266

If you upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, the menu item for the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Replication Manager GUI might be missing from the Windows Start menu.

    47273

The error message An error occurred loading table data might be displayed on the Jobs overview page in the web-based GUI. When you install or upgrade Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center changes some database configuration parameters.

After these parameters are changed, you must stop the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Data and Device servers, restart the database, and then restart the Data and Device servers. If you do not restart the databases, some of the changes to the parameters do not take effect, which causes some SQL statements to fail.

    47276

After you use the password tool to change a password, the Device server, Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication, and Tivoli Integrated Portal may not restart.

To fix this problem, you must stop these services and restart them. The services will run correctly, and the password will be successfully changed.

    47323

You cannot install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 or upgrade from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4 to Version 5.1 in a single-server environment on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 operating system. This is because the version of Tivoli Common Reporting that is included with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 does not support the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 operating system.

You can install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 in a multiple-server environment.
    • Install the following components on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0 server:
      • DB2
      • Tivoli Storage Productivity Center servers
      • Database repository
      • Stand-alone GUI
      • Command-line interface
      • Storage Resource agent
    • Install the following components on a separate server with a supported operating system, other than Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.0:
      • Tivoli Integrated Portal
      • Tivoli Common Reporting
      • Web-based GUI components

    47333

If you upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1, some of the columns of existing alerts might display "? (0)" in the alert log in the stand-alone GUI. For example, the Storage Subsystem or Computer columns might display "? (0)" instead of the appropriate name.

    47336

In the web-based GUI, on Resource details pages, the status of the resource is shown by a status icon on the resource icon in the upper part of the left pane. If you display Tivoli Storage Productivity Center in high contrast, the resource icon is not visible, and the status of the resource is not visible.

To see the status of the resource, open the Properties page. The status is listed on the General tab.

    47354

When you upgrade from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4.1.1 to Version 5.1 on the Windows operating system using a physical DVD mount, Data agents or Fabric agents cannot be migrated to a Storage Resource agent.

    47419

Upgrading to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 may fail because the database transaction log in the DB2 repository is not large enough. To avoid this problem, you may need to increase the size of your transaction log.

For information about increasing the size of your transaction log, see http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r7/topic/com.ibm.db2.luw.spatial.topics.doc/doc/cfgtranslog.html.

    47722

In the stand-alone GUI, when you click Disk Manager > Reporting > Storage Subsystem > Disks, you can select internal mdisks for the Storwize V7000 Subsystem when generating disk reports even though Storwize V7000 internal disks are not included in the generated report.

    56741

After a Tier 3 or 4 recovery procedure is performed on an SVC or Storwize system (V7000, V7000U, V3700, etc.) that was previously probed by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, the cluster data is no longer available in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center UI. During these
recovery procedures, the storage system is given a new cluster ID. Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is not aware of the new cluster ID associated with this device and cannot locate and gather data from the storage system.

To resolve this issue, remove the affected storage system from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and then add the device again. Run a discovery job and probe job to gather data on the storage system.

    70564

When you install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center using the installation wizard, entering a server host name that begins with a numeric character will cause error message BPCIN0009E to display and the installation will fail. To resolve this, specify a server host name that does not begin with a numeric character.

    70565

In DB2® 9.5, to start the DB2 Control Center on the AIX operating system, run the db2cc command in a command window.

    70709

If you have references to IBM Java Version 7 in your Windows path statement, the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installer will hang while installing Tivoli Integrated Portal. IBM Java 7 is not supported by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 (or later).

    To work around this:

    1. Uninstall Tivoli Storage Productivity Center using the instructions in this information center topic:

    Uninstalling Tivoli Storage Productivity Center

    2. Temporarily remove the reference to IBM Java Version 7 from your Windows path statement.

    3. Run the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation program again.

    4. Add the IBM Java Version 7 reference back to your Window path statement.

    5. Restart your Tivoli Storage Productivity Center server.

    72692

The topic Default log file locations in the Information Center specifies an incorrect location for the stand-alone GUI log files.

    The correct location is:
    • Windows operating systems:

    • TPC_installation_directory\data\log
    • UNIX or Linux operating systems:

    • TPC_installation_directory/data/log
    72706

The command to change the DB2 password on the Data server has changed. TSRMsrv.zip has been replaced by TPC_Common.jar.

    These are the updated commands:

    On the Windows operating system:

    C:\Program Files\IBM\TPC\data\config>\"program files"\ibm \tpc\jre\bin\java -classpath "\program files\ibm\tpc\data\server\lib\TPC_Common.jar" com.tivoli.itsrm.repository.Transform -p <new_password> repository.config

    On AIX/Linux operating systems:

    /opt/IBM/TPC/jre/bin/java -classpath "/opt/IBM/TPC/data/server/lib/TPC_Common.jar" com.tivoli.itsrm.repository.Transform -p <new_password> repository.config

This change affects the information center topic Changing the DB2 password for the Data server, which is on page 216 in the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center User's Guide.

You can track the status and resolution of this problem by checking APAR IC91133.

    72708

The Product overview topic on page 11 of the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center User's Guide and information center incorrectly references Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Limited Edition. This version of the product is no longer available.

    76201

When you run the change password tool, error messages that state that DB2 services or Tivoli Storage Productivity Center servers could not be started successfully can be displayed. After you press OK, and the tool completes, start the DB2 and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center services again.

Message BPCIN0201W in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1 product and in the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1.1 Messages Guide has incorrect instructions for stopping the Data Server on AIX.

The correct command to stop the Data Server is:

    /TPC_installation_directory/data/server/tpcdsrv1 stop

This message has been corrected in later releases.

    APAR IC86390

If you are using Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4 with the stand-alone Tivoli Common Reporting 2.2, upgrading to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.1 fails.

To avoid this problem, you must upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1.1.

    86534

In the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Installation and Configuration Guide, the Adding an installation license topic states that an embedded version of Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is available as part of IBM® Systems Director. This is not correct for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Versions 5.1 and later.

    APAR IC86723

The steps to manually uninstall Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 5.1 on Windows 2008 have been updated. See the doc corrections PDF attachment for the updated procedure.

    APAR IC86739

When you upgrade from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4 to Version 5.1, the password tool may not start.

To fix this issue, you must edit the script and replace TPC_DIR_VALUE with the location of the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation directory (C:\Program Files\IBM\TPC or /opt/IBM/TPC).

    APAR IC87666

After you run the restoreConfig command from IBM Tivoli Integrated Portal, IBM Tivoli Common Reporting may not work.

To avoid this issue, when you back up the IBM WebSphere® Application Server configuration files, you must also back up the IBM Cognos 8.ear file. When you restore WebSphere Application Server and IBM Cognos configuration, you must restore the IBM Cognos 8.ear file with the backed up copy.

    APAR IC92438

If a Windows domain user name belongs to a local group that is mapped to a Tivoli Storage Productivity Center role, you cannot use this user name to log in to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. To log in to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, the domain user name must belong to a domain group that is mapped to a Tivoli Storage Productivity Center role.

    APAR IC92488

You can configure reports to save the report output to your local file system. For instructions, see the attached doc_corrections.pdf file.

    APAR IC92840

Step 2 in the information center topic incorrectly specifies how to remove the Common Agent.

The correct text for step 2 is:

    2. Remove the Storage Resource agent entries from the Windows registry by using
the instructions in the following information center topic:

Deleting Storage Resource agent registry entries after a failed installation or uninstallation.

    APAR IC92894

When you add a NAS filer, you must enter the Administrator user ID for the Storage Resource agent service on which it runs.

To manually add a NAS filer, complete the following steps in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center stand-alone GUI:
    1. Expand Administrative Services > Configuration > Manual NAS Server Entry.
    2. Click Add NAS Server.
    3. On the Add NAS Server window, enter the Administrator user ID in the Login ID field.

    APAR IC93534

You cannot log in to Tivoli Integrated Portal and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center after you modify the authentication and try to restore Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

To resolve this situation, complete the following tasks:
    • Before you change the user authentication configuration by adding or removing an LDAP repository in the federated repositories framework, back up the existing WebSphere Application Server configuration files.
    • After you add an LDAP repository to the user authentication configuration and want to later change the LDAP authentication settings, back up the WebSphere configuration files.
    • In the TIP_installation_directory, back up, and if necessary, restore the isc.ear file.

    On Windows operating systems:

    TIP_installation_directory\profiles\TIPProfile\installedApps\TIPCell\isc.ear

If you completed a default installation on the Windows operating system, the isc.ear directory is located here:

    C:\ProgramFiles\IBM\tipv2\profiles\TIPProfile\installedApps\TIPCell\isc.ear\

On AIX or Linux operating systems:

    TIP_installation_directory/profiles/TIPProfile/installedApps/TIPCell/isc.ear

If you completed a default installation on the AIX or Linux operating systems, the isc.ear directory is located here:

    C:/ProgramFiles/IBM/tipv2/profiles/TIPProfile/installedApps/TIPCell/isc.ear\

    APAR IC96172

In the information center topic Changing the authentication method from local operating system to LDAP federated repositories, step 15 requires an additional verification when you restart the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center-related servers after you change the authentication method. This update applies to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4.2.x and Version 5.1.x.

This additional verification involves logging in to the Tivoli Integration Portal server to verify that it is fully functional before you start the other Tivoli Storage Productivity Center services.

For more information about this documentation update, see technote IC96172: Update to process for changing authentication method from local OS to LDAP.

For more information about this APAR, see APAR IC96172.

APAR IC99222: Stop all jobs and reboot servers before upgrading Tivoli Storage Productivity Center

Follow these steps before upgrading Tivoli Storage Productivity Center:

    1. Stop all jobs including performance monitor jobs, system and fabric probe jobs, scan jobs, and other probe jobs.

    2. If possible, reboot the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center servers. This action will stop any remaining Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Java processes that might not stop in a timely manner. If a reboot is not possible, stop and restart the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center server service. It is important for the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Device server to stop and restart cleanly. If this does not occur, a server reboot might be indicated.
