Rational System Architect - unable to create Enterprise encyclopedias in Oracle

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

On Oracle databases, an error message is raised when you create an Enterprise encyclopedia. A message is also raised when you attach a Professional encyclopedia to a Catalog, and then open that encyclopedia.

Symptom

Attempts to create a new Enterprise encyclopedia on an Oracle database (from SA or SA Catalog Manager) results in the error message "unable to create encyclopedia."

Also, when you attach a Professional encyclopedia to a Catalog in an Oracle database, and then try to open it in Rational System Architect, you get the error message "you do not have permission to open this encyclopedia.”

Defect

Resolving the problem

This issue is resolved in the commercial release of Rational System Architect 11.4.1.1 and later.

In an Oracle database, use only Professional encyclopedias. If you need to create or use an Enterprise encyclopedia, use Microsoft SQL Server instead.
