Deployment Environment generation fails to create Business Space tables with an Oracle Common Database

Troubleshooting

Problem

Having created a deployment manager using Oracle as the common database and added some nodes you can create a Deployment Environment through the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus or Business Process Manager Advanced administrative console which will create clusters, servers, buses etc. The Deployment Environment wizard (Servers -> Deployment Environments) has several pages guiding you through the details of creating the Deployment Environment. Step 5. of the wizard lists the data sources that will be created to support the Deployment Environment and default applications. The first data source in the list is the Business Space data source. By default the Create Tables item is ticked for all of the data sources, including the Business Space one. However, at the end of the wizard if you click 'Finish and Generate Environment', the Deployment Environment creation will fail.

Symptom

The error shown on failure is:

Information 2011-10-21 16:44:07 CWLDB9013I: Configuring component WBI_BSPACE on deployment target MYDE.Support.
Information 2011-10-21 16:44:28 CWLDB9022I: Creating authentication alias BSPACE_Auth_Alias for component WBI_BSPACE.
Information 2011-10-21 16:44:28 CWLDB9022I: Creating authentication alias BSPACE_Auth_Alias_XAR for component WBI_BSPACE.
Information 2011-10-21 16:44:30 CWLDB9021I: Datasource Business Space data source is configured at scope Cluster=MYDE.Support
Error 2011-10-21 16:44:31 CWLDB9014E: The configuration of component WBI_BSPACE failed. Reason com.ibm.bspace.admin.BSpaceConfigException: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01435: user does not exist .

Environment

This only occurs when the profiles are created based on an Oracle Common Database.
This issue was observed specifically with Oracle 10.2.

Resolving The Problem

To work around this issue:

On Step 5. of the Deployment Environment wizard untick the Create Tables box for the Business Space data source and then complete the wizard as normal.

If you want to use Business Space you must then do the following:

1) Locate the Business Space database configuration scripts in (for example in WESB)

${WESB_HOME}/profiles/${YOURDMGR}/dbscripts/BusinessSpace/Oracle/${YOURDBNAME}

2) Copy the scripts to your Oracle database server

3) Run the configBusinessSpaceDB script, providing the appropriate SYSTEM user name and password

4) Restart the deployment manager, all nodes and all servers
