Alert details table does not show all entries from ERRORLOG file

Technote (FAQ)

Question

Why does the Alert Details table in the ERRORLOG Alerts workspace show only some error messages?

Cause

The Alert Detail table is parsing the SQL server instance ERRORLOG file. Only the messages having severity greater than "17" will be shown by default.

Answer

In order to view also the messages having other severities, you need to add a new COLL_ALERT_SEV environment variable.

Eg. If you set the above environment variable value to "15", then the error messages having a severity greater than "15" will be displayed on the portal.

Below the steps to add the environment variable:

Go to MTEMS (Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Services) window > right click on the 'Monitoring agent for Microsoft SQL server" instance name > Advanced > Edit Variables > Add.
