Troubleshooting
Problem
A Tivoli Storage Manager Server crashes. An attempt to restart the server in the foreground logs the ANR999D error.
Cause
Out of space condition in the file system in which the Tivoli Storage Manager server instance directory is located
Diagnosing The Problem
Logon with the Tivoli Storage Manager server instance userid and start the Tivoli Storage Manager server in the foreground. For example :
MYAIX:/home/myinstance $ /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin/rc.dsmserv -u instanceid -i /myfs/instancedir

Resolving The Problem
In this example, the instance directory is /myfs/instancedir. The file system /myfs was full, preventing the Tivoli Storage Manager server from starting. Add space to the file system that is full and restart the server.
