Troubleshooting

Problem

501 Invalid data set name "'TESTFILE FOR FTP              '".  Use MVS Dsname conventions. (SCI24703)

Symptom

501 Invalid data set name "'TESTFILE FOR FTP              '".  Use MVS Dsname conventions.

Cause

Generic Script uses the BID as the default File name, file name not constructed
for the target system intended

Resolving The Problem

As with any ftp client/server transmission the client when sending a file must conform to the server's naming standard. In this case you are talking to the IBM MVS TCPIP and these naming conventions are required. You may wish to setup your data  batch ID to conform to these standards, or modify the ACSCRIPT to construct the files name to be used.

Possibly set rexx script to parse the BID into 8 byte variables then construct a name placing a '.' in between.
