In DataStage, an error occurs when trying to change the DB2 Instance name within the DB2 Connector stage.

Troubleshooting

Problem

If the DB2 Connector stage was created originally with a particular DB2 instance name (eg. TestA) and then one goes back into the DB2 Connector to change the DB2 Instance name to a different Instance name (eg. TestB), and test the connection, the following error will occur: The connection failed. An error occurred setting the active DB2 instance to value: TestB. The active DB2 instance is already set to value: TestA.

Resolving The Problem

Follow these steps to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure that DB2INSTANCE is set correctly in the dsenv file (located under the DSEngine directory)
  2. Restart Datastage/ASBAgents to pick up this new value
  3. In the DB2 Connector stage, leave the Instance field blank (i.e., let it default to the DB2INSTANCE that is in the dsenv file). However, if the test connection fails, insert the corrected value for the DB2INSTANCE to match what is in the dsenv file
