Abstract

Daylight Savings Time changes will cause Process Engine to error with "FNRPE2131090068E RPC Security [check API machine UTC clock and DB machine UTC clock]". This will result in all client connections going to the Process Engine to fail.

Content

When the Process Engine encounters a time change (e.g. Daylight Savings Time), the internal synchronization algorithm incorrectly handles the change and the results will be connection errors which are logged in the Process Engine logs similar to the one below:

time: calibration value changed from 72 seconds to 3672 seconds between two calibrations within calibration duration (900 seconds). The change value (3600 seconds) exceeds the tolerate value 63 seconds (7 percent of the calibration duration value).

This has been documented in APAR PJ38407, and addressed in 5.0.0.1-P8PE-FP001. It is strongly recommended that customers apply this Fix Pack prior to the Daylight Saving Time end date in order to prevent the problem from occurring. This issue only occurs when the system clock 'falls back'. There is no issues when the clock 'leaps forward'.

If 5.0.0.1-P8PE-FP001 is not applied, client connections to the Process Engine will fail for a period of about 2 hours from the hour before the time change. Restarting Process Engine will not resolve the problem during this period.

Example:

If the Daylight Saving Time fallback occurred at 2 am, Process Engine will be affected for 2 hours starting at 1 am.
