Problem

The Rational Functional Tester Help for .NET 2010 Scripting is not displayed if the required Microsoft Windows security patches are not installed.

Symptom

In Rational Functional Tester .NET 2010 Scripting, on clicking Help and then View Help, the help is not displayed.

Cause

This occurs because the required Windows security patches have not been installed, and the root chain certificate is not verified.

Resolving The Problem

To resolve this problem, do one of these steps, as required:

  • Before you upgrade to the latest Rational Functional Tester version, install the security certificates provided in the Certificates.zip file attached to this technical note:
      1. Extract the certificate files from the Certificates.zip file, to a directory on the workstation on which you are upgrading Rational Functional Tester.

      2. Close Microsoft Internet Explorer and then open it again.

      3. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.

      4. On the Content tab, click Certificates.

      5. On the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab, click Import.

      6. In the Certificate Import Wizard, click Next.

      7. Browse to the directory where you extracted the certificates from the Certificates.zip file, and select the Thawte Primary Root CA.cer file. Click Open. Keep clicking Next, accepting all the default settings, till Finish is displayed. Click Finish.

      8. Close Microsoft Internet Explorer and then open it again.

      9. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.

      10. On the Content tab, click Certificates.

      11. On the Intermediate Certification Authorities tab, click Import.

      12. In the Certificate Import Wizard, click Next.

      13. Browse to the directory where you extracted the certificates from the Certificates.zip file, and select the Thawte Codesigning intermediate.cer file. Click Open. Keep clicking Next, accepting all the default settings, till Finish is displayed. Click Finish.

  • If you have already upgraded to the latest Rational Functional version, do these steps:
      1. Install the security certificates by doing the steps 1-13 listed above.

      2. Install Rational Functional Tester .NET 2010 Scripting help using the Help Library Manager:
        1. Open the Visual Studio Help Library Manager.
        2. Select the Install help from disk option.
        3. Click Browse and select the helpcontentsetup.msha file that is available by default in the Rational Functional Tester installation directory IBM\SDP\FunctionalTester\vsnet\MSDNHelp\VS2010 directory. The help manifest files for other translations are found within the locale folders available in the VS2010 directory.
        4. Select RFT and click Update. The Rational Functional Tester .NET help is installed as local help for Visual Studio 2010.

    Note: To view the Rational Functional Tester .NET Scripting help in the Visual Studio 2010 integrated development environment (IDE), you must enable the local help option in the Help Library Manager.

    Tip: To view the complete table of contents of the installed local help in the Visual Studio 2010 IDE, install the Visual Studio Help Keyword Index plug-in that is available from the Microsoft website. Alternatively, you can upgrade to Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1 to view help in the Microsoft Help Viewer.
