Troubleshooting
Problem
After installation through the middleware installation program, the WebSphere Application Server start menu links contain extraneous characters.
Resolving The Problem
On linux systems, after installing WebSphere Application Server using the middleware installation program, the start menu link to the WebSphere tools appears as WebSphere${NUMBER) instead of WebSphere. This is a minor cosmetic problem and doesn't impact functionality.
To modify the menu links, complete the following steps:
1. Move the WebSphere menu file:
mv <ROOT_USER_HOME>/.config/menus/applications-merged/WebSphere.menu <WAS_HOME>/properties/version/nif/config/linuxMenu/menus/WebSphere.menu
2. Change directory to <WAS_HOME>/properties/version/nif/config/script
3. Run the following script:
productShortCut2StartMenuBase.sh
4. Return the WebSphere menu file to its original location:
mv <WAS_HOME>/properties/version/nif/config/linuxMenu/menus/WebSphere.menu <ROOT_USER_HOME>/.config/menus/applications-merged/WebSphere.menu
