Abstract
This document includes information regarding Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Virtual Environments Version 6.3 compatibility with earlier releases.

Existing backups created using previous versions of Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) for Virtual Environments can be restored using TSM for Virtual Environments 6.3.
Note that it is important to ensure that the vSphere version is supported (see Hardware and Software Requirements: Version 6.3 TSM for Virtual Environments).
New backups created with TSM for Virtual Environments 6.3 cannot be restored using previous versions of TSM for Virtual Environments.
TIP: Refer to the Tivoli Storage Manager for Virtual Environments 6.3: Data Protection for VMware Installation and User's Guide for detailed installation instructions and upgrade considerations before attempting to install or update this product.
