DFHXSS System Dump 0C4 with CA ACF2

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

Your CICS region generates a system dump. The dump title is reported as:
Dump Title: CICS SYSTEM DUMP - REQUESTED BY DFHXSS
The dump is for an abend0C4 in module DFHXSSB. You are running with CA ACF2.

Symptom

DFHXSS takes a system dump with an abendS0C4.

Cause

The structure that DFHXSSB is traversing was built incorrectly by CA ACF2.

Environment

CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V4.2 and CA ACF2 from CA Technologies

Diagnosing the problem

DFHXSSB was called for INQ_PASSWORD. This results in the following racroute request:

RACROUTE REQUEST=EXTRACT,    Perform Extract service
     TYPE=EXTRACT,           Just retrieve profile fields
     ENTITYX=ENTITYX_USER_IDENTIFIER, Userid
     FIELDS=INQ_PASSWORD_FIELDS, List of required fields
     WORKA=SAF_WORKAREA,     Address of SAF workarea
     SUBSYS=ESM_SUBSYS,      Subsystem identifier
     DECOUPL=YES,            Decouple from router table
     RELEASE=7740,           z/OS 1.9 or above
     MF=(E,RACXTRT_AUTO)     Execute form of macro

The extract completed succssfully and DFHXSSB calls the DETERMINE_REVOKED_STATUS routine. This routine involves CICS traversing the fields passed back in the extract. The 0C4 occurred during the DETERMINE_REVOKED_STATUS routine when trying to process the number of groups (group_count) the userid is associated to. The failing instruction is BFBF8000, which is an ICM. Register 8 (R8) points to an address that is not addressable.

Resolving the problem

Apply the following CA ACF2 fixes from CA Technologies for your release of CA ACF2:

  • For CA ACF2 R14, apply CA ACF2 fixes RO33504, RO38608, and R042867.
  • For CA ACF2 R15, apply CA ACF2 fixes RO33080, RO32495, RO36415, RO38393, and RO50355.
