Troubleshooting
Problem
Attempts to use Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) connection identifier in options file instead of the groupname leads to user_based license checkout error 'License Error:User/Host not on INCLUDE list for feature'.
Symptom
Normal use of options file is as follows:
----------------------
GROUP groupname user1 user2 user3.........user n
INCLUDE feature_name:VERSION= GROUP groupname
----------------------
for example:
----------------------
GROUP DOORS_USR user1 user2 user3
INCLUDE DOORS:VERSION=2011.0228 GROUP LDAP-Conn
----------------------
The error occurs when we try to use it with the LDAP identifier instead with group of users as follows:
----------------------
GROUP LDAP-Conn
INCLUDE DOORS:VERSION=2011.0228 GROUP LDAP-Conn
----------------------
where the DOORS_USR ( groupname, as in the example above) has been replaced with the LDAP-conn as the LDAP identifier.
Steps to reproduce:
- Define a options file as follows with the LDAP identifier instead of a custom defined user group in an options file, as follows:
----------------------
GROUP LDAP-Conn
INCLUDE DOORS:VERSION=2011.0228 GROUP LDAP-Conn
----------------------
- This will lead to the following FLEXnet error during a license checkout attempt:
License Error:User/Host not on INCLUDE list for feature.

Cause
Using Active Directory Server (ADS) aliases and references in the options file is currently not supported with Flex licenses, as indicated by Flexera.
An enhancement request is open with Flexera (IOA-000042226).
Note: www.flexerasoftware.com/ Flexera owns the license server manager software
Resolving The Problem
There is no work around at this time.
Use the recommended options file configuration as detailed in the FLEXnet Licensing Guide from Flexera.
