Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

The error "java.io.IOException: Broken pipe" is displayed when the user attempts to run a form-based report.

Symptom

There are no values displayed for the parameter options.

Cause

The database link needs to be verified.

Environment

Reporter connecting to Oracle on Linux via the ODBC Drivers.

Diagnosing the problem

Try to build a simple report via the Report Designer does it fail with the error "INFO-0813"? If so please see below, or if not, contact Technical Support with the error message you see.

Resolving the problem

Check the odbc.ini file for the Oracle connection's datasource name.

cd $INFOHOME/util and run ./SetRepLogin repository_two repository_two ODBCDataSourceName (where repository_two is the Repository Schema owner - the format is user password SID)

Restart Reporter and log in as the Administrator User

Select the UserAdmin applet --> SQL Data Sources --> reporter

Database Type should be set to ODBC

ODBC Source should be set to the ODBCDataSourceName value used in SetRepLogin earlier
