Limitations and known issues for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication 4.2.2.2

Preventive Service Planning

Abstract

This document provides a list of the limitations and known issues for IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication 4.2.2.2.

The readme file for Fix Pack 2 still displays the product version number as 4.2.2.1. However, the readme file content applies to Fix Pack 2 as well.

The installation summary page does not display text for the Linux x86 64-bit operating system.

To display information about the Linux x86 64-bit operating system, after you see the installation summary page, click Previous and then Next.

When a volume with multiple paths is assigned to a host on the Linux operating system, and the drivers are not correctly configured, the volume is displayed as different devices. For example, if Linux host abc.tucson.ibm.com has two paths to a volume on a IBM System Storage DS8000 server, and the driver is not correctly configured, the following physical devices are displayed on the host:

05/07/2012 17:05:17 STA0167I Multiple paths to disk:
/dev/sdaa
/dev/sdac

When you partition and create a filesystem on an aliased device (for example, /dev/sdac), only the Filesystem tab, and not the Logical Volume tab is displayed in Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

If Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is installed using LDAP authentication, you can log into IBM Tivoli Integrated Portal using LDAP or the local administrative user. The local administrative user allows someone to still log into Tivoli Integrated Portal to make administrative changes even if the LDAP server is down or configured incorrectly.

To avoid additional access, you can remove the local administrative user from Tivoli Integrated Portal after you install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

After a Tier 3 or 4 recovery procedure is performed on an SVC or Storwize system (V7000, V7000U, V3700, etc.) that was previously probed by Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, the cluster data is no longer available in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center UI. During these
recovery procedures, the storage system is given a new cluster ID. Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is not aware of the new cluster ID associated with this device and cannot locate and gather data from the storage system.

To resolve this issue, remove the affected storage system from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and then add the device again. Run a discovery job and probe job to gather data on the storage system.

In Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4.2.1 (or later), if you change your LDAP password, you may not be able to upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 5.2 because your LDAP credentials cannot be validated.

To resolve this issue, see the doc_corrections_v4222.pdf attachment.

The Metro Global Mirror session cannot start after a HyperSwap operation completes. The message IWNR2108E is returned with error code 0400. This issue affects only Metro Global Mirror sessions for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication for System z.

To avoid this issue, do not install program temporary fix (PTF) UK78824.

IC84680

After you upgrade to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 4.2.2.2, if you try to start multiple Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication Global Mirror sessions on the same DS8000 storage system that is on a microcode level and that supports multiple Global Mirror sessions, only one of the Global Mirror sessions may successfully set up the Global Mirror master relationship on the hardware to start forming consistency groups.

The other sessions will go into a SEVERE status, which indicates that these sessions were not able to start the Global Mirror processing because there are already too many master relationships on the hardware. This issue is due to an incorrect check in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication code for the IBM System Storage DS8000 feature code and only occurs if the Metro Mirror feature code does not exist on the DS8000 storage system that is the source of the Global Mirror relationship.

To fix this issue, install 4.2.2.2 interim fix 1 or apply the Metro Mirror feature code to the DS8000 storage system that is the source of the Global Mirror relationship.

The following procedures in the IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Installation and Configuration Guide contain errors:
  • Configuring Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for DS8000 LDAP authentication
  • Configuring multiple Tivoli Storage Productivity Center servers with one DS8000 R4.2
  • Setting up dual Tivoli Storage Productivity Center servers for high availability

For details about the errors and the corrected procedures, see the attached doc_corrections_v4222 PDF file.

If a Windows domain user account is used to install Tivoli® Storage Productivity Center, the user account might not have the DB2® SYSADM authority, because DB2 goes to the domain controller computer to list the groups. Before you install Tivoli Storage Productivity Center, you must grant the Windows domain user accounts the DB2 SYSADM authority.

To enter the commands, and grant DB2 SYSADM authority, complete the following steps:
  1. Click Start > Command Prompt.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
  3. Enter these commands:
    db2cmd
    db2set -g DB2_GRP_LOOKUP=local,TOKENLOCAL
    db2 force application all
    db2stop
    db2start
    db2set -all

After you run the commands, you can log in to Tivoli Storage Productivity Center by using a user account that has DB2 SYSADM authority.

If you are logged in with your Windows domain user account, you might not have the authorization to run the db2 force application all command.

Important: When you grant DB2 SYSADM authority, and the db2 force application all command does not work, you can enter the db2stop command instead of the db2 force application all command.

In the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Version 4.2.2.2 information center topic Enabling secure communication between Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and the LDAP repository, step 2 is missing some information. See the doc_corrections_v4222.pdf attachment for the missing information.

IC87142

Two Information Center topics are missing the instructions necessary to run the Service tool:
  • Creating a compressed file about servers for the IBM Support Center
  • Creating a compressed file about Storage Resource Agents for the IBM Support Center

To see the missing instructions, see the following section and topics in the Problem Determination Guide:

Service tool: collecting information
  • Running the Service tool for the servers, page 8
  • Running the Service tool for the agents, page 9

When you add a NAS filer, you must enter the Administrator user ID for the Storage Resource agent service on which it runs.

To manually add a NAS filer, complete the following steps in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center stand-alone GUI:
  1. Expand Administrative Services > Configuration > Manual NAS Server Entry.
  2. Click Add NAS Server.
  3. On the Add NAS Server window, enter the Administrator user ID in the Login ID field.

APAR IC93534

You cannot log in to Tivoli Intergrated Portal and Tivoli Storage Productivity Center after you modify the authentication and try to restore Tivoli Storage Productivity Center.

To resolve this situation, complete the following tasks:
  • Before you change the user authentication configuration by adding or removing an LDAP repository in the federated repositories framework, back up the existing WebSphere Application Server configuration files.
  • After you add an LDAP repository to the user authentication configuration and want to later change the LDAP authentication settings, back up the WebSphere configuration files.
  • In the TIP_installation_directory, back up, and if necessary, restore the isc.ear file.

On Windows operating systems:

TIP_installation_directory\profiles\TIPProfile\installedApps\TIPCell\isc.ear

If you completed a default installation on the Windows operating system, the isc.ear directory is located here:

C:\ProgramFiles\IBM\tipv2\profiles\TIPProfile\installedApps\TIPCell\isc.ear\

On AIX or Linux operating systems:

TIP_installation_directory/profiles/TIPProfile/installedApps/TIPCell/isc.ear

If you completed a default installation on the AIX or Linux operating systems, the isc.ear directory is located here:

C:/ProgramFiles/IBM/tipv2/profiles/TIPProfile/installedApps/TIPCell/isc.ear\
