Testing OSX S/W

Technote (FAQ)

Question

How do I test OSX software in the root account?

Answer

To test software installations, browse to Applications > Utilities and launch the Terminal command. Next, type:
sudo /bin/bash

Use Process Monitor to verify that bash is running as root. You can now mount disk images and launch your software installation using the command line.

Note that a command prompt running under root privileges is a security risk and you should exit it promptly when finished. To do so, type:
exit
