Why am I getting the error "Warning: This baseline contains components that have no action selected. Action groups taken from this baseline are likely to fail" ?
Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
When you initially create a baseline with multiple Fixlet messages it will choose the default action for each. In some cases there are no default actions.
Resolving the problem
When you initially create a baseline with multiple Fixlet messages it will choose the default action for each. In some cases there are no default actions. This can be the case when there are multiple actions to choose from, there is a very large download, the endpoint requires a reboot or any other bit of important information that you would need to know before blindly accepting the default action in a Fixlet
In existing baselines you can look at the components tab. Each component is expandable. When you expand it you will see the "relevance" and "action" section for those that have an action. For those that have no action selected, you will not see an action section, only relevance.
To remedy it you will have to edit the baseline and remove and re-add the component/Fixlet and choose the appropriate action.
Note: The reason that you cannot edit and change the action of the Fixlet components of the baseline after having created the baseline is because; once you create a baseline, it is completely independent from the Fixlets is was created from. The baseline contains a copy the Fixlet message with the Fixlet relevance and the one action you selected at the time of baseline creation.
Here is a way to find all the components that do not have a default action. It will require session relevance.- Enable the debug menu in the console:
- Press: CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-D
- Click the "Show Debug Menu" option in the resulting debug dialog.
- Close the debug dialog.
- Now you should see the "Debug" option at the tope of the console in the menu bar (to the right of the "Help" option).
The debug menu can be used to launch the Presentation Debugger, Load custom wizards, and help with retrieving troubleshooting data requested by BigFix Support agents.
- Open the presentation debugger.
- Use the following query, substituting your baseline name:
(names of components whose (not exist action of it) of component group of bes fixlets whose (baseline flag of it AND name of it = "Windows Baseline"))
Note: You must replace "Windows Baseline" with the actual title of the baseline you are interested in.
