TEM Diagnostics is giving me a warning that my service permissions are incorrect

Technote (troubleshooting)

Problem(Abstract)

The "service permissions are incorrect" errors indicate that the NTFS file permissions for certain files and folders are not accessible to the TEM BES services.

Resolving the problem

The "service permissions are incorrect" errors indicate that the NTFS file permissions for certain files and folders are not accessible to the TEM BES services. By default, the BES services run as the Windows SYSTEM account (which, by default, has full access to all files).

To fix this problem, verify the following:

  1. For each incorrect permission, open Windows Explorer and right click on the file or folder and then click on "Properties".
  2. Under the "Security" tab, verify that the SYSTEM account has full access to the file or folder. If it does not have access, then use the "Add" button to grant the SYSTEM account full access.
  3. If SYSTEM already has full access, click on the "Advanced" button and verify that there are no "Deny" permissions for the SYSTEM account (remove the SYSTEM "Deny" permission if they exist".
  4. Click the OK button to close the Properties dialog.

NOTE: There is a known problem with the diagnostics permission check that will sometimes inaccurately report a "red light" even if the SYSTEM account has full permissions. This problem appears to occur most often if computer is part of a domain, but a local user account is logged in.

If it appears the diagnostics tool is incorrectly reporting a permissions problem, please ignore this warning. If the permissions still are not set correctly or if you have any questions, please contact IBM Support.
