Navigating to the Change and Configuration Management application results in Application Cannot be Reached error

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to navigate to the registered IBM Rational Change and Configuration Management application from the IBM Rational Jazz Team Server results in the error "The application could not be reached".

Symptom

After successfully registering the Change and Configuration Management application to the Jazz Team Server, the link to the Change and Configuration Management application does not show up in the Jazz Team Server home page.

The User Interface shows an error of:
Change and Configuration Management (CCM) (0) The application could not be reached.

However, when viewing the 'Registered Applications page', the Change and Configuration Management application is listed as a registered application of the Jazz Team Server.

The following error is found in the server log:
0000001f webcontainer E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.WebContainer handleRequest SRVE0255E: A WebGroup/Virtual Host to handle /jts/rootservices has not been defined. 00000025 servlet E com.ibm.ws.webcontainer.servlet.ServletWrapper service SRVE0068E: Uncaught exception created in one of the service methods of the servlet equinoxbridgeservlet in application jts_war. Exception created : java.lang.NullPointerException

Cause

The Change and Configuration Management application hostname or port number are not defined as a virtual host.

Resolving The Problem

In Rational Team Concert 3.0.1 and prior, the hostname and port number used by the Change and Configuration Application must be configured as a virtual host. This is a known defect, identified in Defect Work Item #166661 on jazz.net, which will be resolved in the 3.0.1.1 release of Rational Team Concert.

To configure the virtual host, and map the application to the virtual host, follow the instructions on the Complex CALM Deployment article on jazz.net.
