Change in attachment file selection in IE 8 and Firefox 3.5.x due to browser security change
In Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3.4.x and older browser versions, you can type in the file name/path on the 'Specify a file' text field. Why does not it work in IE 8 and Firefox 3.5.x and higher versions?
In IE 7 or FireFox 3.4.x and older browser versions, you can type in file name/path on the 'Specify a file' text field.
In IE 8 and Firefox 3.5.x and higher browser versions, you cannot type in that field.
Starting from Firefox 3.5.x and IE 8, the browser itself had some security enhancement that does not allow user to direct type in the filename in the text field. If a user clicks in the field, "Browse" file window will automatically pop up so users can browse for and then select the relevant file.
Or users can just click on the "Browse" button besides the input field to browse for and then select the relevant file.
The browser security change in Firefox 3.5.x and IE 8 should not have any impact on Maximo functionality: you simply need to "Browse" and select the file, instead of typing in the file name into the field.
