Symptom

System Abend FE6

Cause

The required SVC (Superviser) customization has not been performed.

Environment

z/OS

Resolving The Problem

Usually, System Abend FE6 ( SFE6 / ABENDSFE6 ) occurs on NFTP startup for the following reason :

DVGMCQI(base) +x'410' issued SVC 230; fails with message DVG197I FE6

The NvFTP Server has located a copy of DVGMCQI linked with SVC 230 (this equates to hexadecimal x'E6').

However, it should be linked to IGC0023 in SDVGLPA.

Validate that the following SVC (Superviser) customization has been performed / completed, as is outlined in Chapter 2 of the NetView FTP Install Guide:

- Execute DVGCSVC in INSTLIB
- IEASVCxx in PARMLIB
- LPALSTxx in PARMLIB
After completion of the above, an RE-IPL with CLPA is required.

The AbendFE6 for SVC 230 can be caused because client did not successfully link, or did not add the SVC 230 to the current IEASVCxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB. System Abend FE6 indicates that the E6 is an unknown, unrecognized or invalid SVC. Also, if the link-edit succeeded and addition of SVC 230 into SYS1.PARMLIB(IEASVCxx) was performed, perhaps the IPL with CLPA was not yet performed.
