ITM 6.x uninstallation - cleanup of components on Windows systems

Technote (FAQ)

Installation of any ITM 6.x components may fail on Windows machines where ITM was previously installed and incompletely uninstalled. How can I make sure that previous ITM 6.x installations are completely removed?

You can have a run of the attached ITM removal tool, keeping in mind that the "Remove All" tool is NOT selective. It removes ALL of the files in the specified install directory and removes ALL registry entries. It should only be used if you are unable to successfully cleanup your system using Windows "Add & Remove Programs". This program is designed to remove versions of OMEGAMON and ITM6.x from your system.

If even this does not help and installation fails again, please rerun the ITM removal tool and, before attempting installations again, carry on with the following steps, which may be applicable only for specific ITM components (TEMS, TEPS, Agents, etc...):

1. Manually remove the GSKit:

C:\WINDOWS\IsUninst.exe -f"C:\Program Files\IBM\GSK7\gsk7BUI.isu"
(select yes to completely remove all components)

2.Afterwards verify that the following registry keys are gone (Start -> run -> regedit):

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Global Security Kit (GSK) - SSL Runtime Toolkit

3. Make sure that GSKit is not in the path - if so remove and reboot

4. Drop the TEPS database (if created)

5. Delete the ODBC datasource (if applicable)

6. Run regedt32 (not regedit) and go to:

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

If there is a key PendingFileRename remove that key.

Then try the installation again.

If it fails again, with the same or a different symptom, then InstallShield and ITM installation logs must be analysed to find the reason of the installation failure.
