BMXAA0931E error on Application Designer xml import

Troubleshooting

Problem

After altering an application's xml, when we import it into Application Designer we get this error: System Message BMXAA0931E - the processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed..

Resolving The Problem

This error is usually an indication that the xml file had characters changed or inserted by the text editor. That is, please export it, and make the changes with a different text editor. You may also try to confirm this by doing a file compare of the xml files before and after making chanages.
