Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem
A group in the Domino Directory is restricted and hidden from some users. Although the user cannot see the group in the Directory, there is nothing to prevent the iNotes user from using the restricted group.
In the IBM Lotus Notes Client, when unauthorized user tries to use a restricted group, the user gets an error delivery report with following message:
Delivery Failure Report
Your message: TEST
was not delivered to: group
because: Not authorized to send mail to this user or group
In IBM Lotus iNotes®, when an unauthorized user tries to use a the same restricted group, the user gets the following message after selecting the option to "user name anyway":
The email is delivered to the members of the restricted group.
Diagnosing the problem
Using the following steps and documentation, hide a specific group in the Domino directory.
- From the Groups view, highlight the specific group that should be hidden.
- Right-click and select Document Properties.
- On the Security (key) tab, uncheck "All readers and above."
- Place a check mark next to any users who should see the Group document. Users not selected will be unable to see that particular group in the Groups view.
