Abstract
Do not forward encrypted journal reports from Lotus Domino to the IBM Content Collector SMTP Connector, because this might lead to data loss of the encrypted content.
Content
If you forward encrypted Lotus Domino journal reports to the IBM Content Collector SMTP Connector for archiving (as described in the information center, see the related link), the body content of the email is damaged, so that it cannot be archived properly. As a result, the encrypted body content is lost.
The reason for this problem is a limitation of the Lotus Domino server when it converts the document from Notes Rich Text format to MIME format (APAR LO58538). Domino preserves the Notes encryption when forwarding messages over NRPC, but it is not currently designed to support this over SMTP. An enhancement is planned for Domino to support forwarding Notes encrypted messages over SMTP. The enhancement will be available in the form of a Domino server hotfix, and the estimated availability is mid 2011.
In the interim, do not use the Content Collector SMTP Connector to archive encrypted Lotus Domino journal reports until this limitation is addressed. You can use the Content Collector SMTP Connector to archive non-encrypted Lotus Domino email or email from other source systems, like for example Microsoft Exchange.
