Copy & Paste of numbers having a comma as a decimal separator can paste an incorrect value in the TM1 Web and TM1 Contributor client

Flashes (Alerts)

Abstract

An issue has been identified in certain builds of TM1 software which result in an incorrect value being displayed, and stored, for locales that use a comma as the decimal separator.

Content

This issue has been identified in the following versions of TM1 software:

    • TM1 9.5.2
    • TM1 9.5.1 (affects only interim fix HF11 through HF15)
    • TM1 9.4.1 FP3 (affects only interim fix HF11 through HF15)
The issue occurs when:
  1. The user is using the TM1 Web client or TM1 Contributor client, and
  2. The user has their locale settings set to display a “,” (comma) as their decimal point in number formatting, and
  3. The user performs a copy and then paste of a number with a "," as the decimal point.
When a copy/paste is done that includes a decimal point, the decimal point will be converted to an English (US) decimal point which results in a period instead of a comma. The period is most commonly used as the thousand separator in locales that use the comma as the decimal point, so the value pasted will be incorrect.

This issue is logged as APAR PM36280 and we are currently working on a solution.

Cognos TM1 9.5.2

An interim fix has been made available for Cognos TM1 9.5.2. It is available from Fix Central. Important information about the fix and installation instructions are available in the Cognos TM1 9.5.2 Interim Fix 2 download document.

Verify that the Fix has been applied

This fix has been applied if build number 9.5.20002.13683 (TM1 9.5.2 interim fix HF2), or higher, is installed. The build number can be verified in either of two ways:

1. Check the <bindingRedirect> entry in the Web.config file.
    a. Navigate to the install location (the default is C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TM1Web)
    b. Open the Web.config file and look in the <runtime> section.
    c. Check the newVersion parameter of the <bindingRedirect> entry. For example, this entry indicates that version 9.5.20002.13683 is installed.
      <bindingRedirect oldVersion="...." newVersion="9.5.20002.13683" />

2. Verify the Product Version value of one of two dll files.
    a. Navigate to the install location (the default is C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TM1Web)
    b. Right-click on Applix.TM1.Web.Page.dll or Applix.TM1.Web.WebControls.dll, and select Properties.
    c. Click the Version tab and verify the Product Version entry.

Cognos TM1 9.5.1 or 9.4.1
Fixes are now available for these releases. If you are experiencing this issue and have not received notification about the hot fix, please contact customer support to request the relevant fix (TM1 9.5.1 HF16 or TM1 9.4.1 FP3 HF16).
