Resolving the problem

Make sure that TCP/IP and NAMED PIPES are ENABLED for SQL Server 2005. Please Note: You will need to recycle the SQL Server after changes are made.

1. To verify that TCP/IP is ENABLED:
-> Go to START | PROGRAMS | MS SQL Server 2005 | Configurations Tools | SQL Server Configuration Manager | SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration

-> Click on Protocols for ....
-> on right side check to make sure TCP/IP says ENABLED
-> If NOt, right click and select ENABLED
->also Check to make sure NAMED PIPES are ENABLED
-> If NOT, right click and select ENABLED

2. Verify the IP Address and PORT #
->Then right click again on TCP/IP and select Properties
-> Select IP Adress Tab
-> Under first section you will see IP ADDRESS and PORT # to use for the install
