Error message; 'You are not allowed to generate any more new licenses' when attempting to license IBM SPSS software, including IBM SPSS Statistics or Modeler

Question & Answer

Question

When running the SPSS License Authorization Wizard on any IBM SPSS software product, I encounter the following error:
Error Code: 106 You are not allowed to generate any more new licenses.
What is the problem?

Cause

The authorization code you are using has no more available installations.

Answer

Each IBM SPSS authorization code only has a limited number of uses or installations (one Authorized User license typically comes with 2 up to 4 allowed installations, only to be used by the same authorized user).
Depending on your contract you are allowed to install your SPSS software on x number of machines.
This error indicates that all available installations allowed for your authorization code have been used.
If you obtained your license through your academic institution (e.g. Campus Edition) or via a 3rd part academic license vendor (e.g. GradPack), or if you purchased your license from any other party then IBM, please contact the institution/provider/department who provided you with a license, to review if an additional install can be obtained.
If you obtained your license by direct purchase from IBM, and if you have a Support Agreement, you can open a support case for the SPSS Licensing Product.   By selecting one of the AUTO_RETURN licensing request types, you can submit a request to remove a particular install or the oldest installation from your code.   If you submit your request in the correct format, it will be handled in less then 5 minutes.  All we need is the authorization code and optionally the lock-code.
