I'm looking for the capability to handle generalized additive models (GAMs). Does SPSS Statistics have a procedure dedicated to handling such models?
Resolving the problem
IBM SPSS Statistics currently does not have a procedure designed to handle generalized additive models (GAMs). The CATREG procedure in the Categories module can fit some types of GAMs, and the nonlinear regression capabilities can fit some as well, but a dedicated procedure for fitting GAMs is not currently included. There is an R package (gam) available for fitting GAMs, which could be accessed via the R plugin (see Technote 1488549 for details on the R plugin).
