IBM Support

Replication-based methods of variance estimation in SPSS Statistics Complex Samples

Troubleshooting

Problem

Does the SPSS Complex Samples module offer balanced repeated replication (BRR) estimation or other replication based methods of variance estimation, such as jackknifing or bootstrapping methods?

Resolving The Problem

SPSS Statistics Complex Samples currently does not offer balanced repeated replication (BRR) or other forms of replication based estimation. Variance estimation is done using Taylor series linearization methods. The Complex Samples module does not interact with the Bootstrapping options.

The R plugin will allow you to access the R survey package, which does handle replication-based methods of variance estimation.
