In the SPSS DISCRIMINANT procedure, are the standardized canonical discriminant functions, the raw or unstandardized canonical discriminant functions, or the Fisher classification function coefficients used in computing the saved discriminant scores?
Resolving the problem
The raw or unstandardized canonical function coefficients are used to compute the saved or pinted discriminant function scores. The scores are computed by applying the regression-like equation of the constant plus each coefficient times the raw value of the appropriate variable, and summing.
You can also compute the discriminant scores using the standardized discriminant function coefficients applied to data that have been centered and divided by the pooled within-cell standard deviations for the predictor variables, as discussed in Technote 1479621.
