Question
Which levels of NetApp Data ONTAP do the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4 Backup-Archive clients support with its NetApp snapshot-assisted progressive incremental functionality ('incremental -snapdiff' command)?
Answer
This table lists which levels of the 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4 IBM TSM Windows, AIX, and Linux x86/x86_64 Backup-Archive clients are supported with which levels of NetApp Data ONTAP for the NetApp snapshot-assisted progressive incremental functionality.
| TSM B/A Client Levels | Platforms Supported | NetApp Data ONTAP levels |
| 6.2.0 and 6.2.1 | Windows, AIX 64-bit | 7.3.0, 7.3.1, and 7.3.2 |
| 6.2.x (where x is 2 or higher) | Windows, AIX 64-bit, and Linux x86 | 7.3.y (where y is 0 or higher)*, 8.0.1 |
| 6.3 | Windows, AIX 64-bit, and Linux x86_64 | 7.3.y (where y is 0 or higher)*, 8.0.1 |
| 6.4 | Windows, AIX 64-bit, and Linux x86_64 | 7.3.y (where y is 0 or higher)*, 8.1.1** |
*Note: With 6.2.2 or higher clients, TSM recommends using NetApp Data ONTAP level 7.3.3 or higher levels of 7.3 (7.3.y where y=3 or higher), due to the Unicode support at those levels of Data ONTAP.
**Note: Support for backing up vFiler volumes requires ONTAP version 8.1.1 or greater.
